What strategies do you use to cope with negative feelings?
If I catch myself thinking negative thoughts, and I usually am able to… I stop myself and think about what reasons I have to be thankful and I try to come up with something to do to change my mindset and think about how my situation could be even worse than it is right then. I will put on a video or movie, holler for one of my kids and start a conversation with them, or I will get on my phone or laptop and start looking at things that will help change my mind. It’s also important to practice your breathing. Inhale for 4 seconds hold your breath for 3 seconds and exhale for 4 seconds. Repeat and repeat until you are relaxed.
